Stay safely in the home you love
Stairs can cut you off from part of your own home. A stairlift is a chair that rides along a rail fixed to your stairs. You sit down at one end, ride to the other end, and step off. Since 1990, Griffin Mobility has helped people across North Alabama stay independent at home. We are a State of Alabama licensed and certified installer for stairlifts and vertical platform lifts.
Types of stairlifts
Straight stairlifts
A straight stairlift is for one straight flight of stairs with no turns or middle landings. The rail runs in a straight line from the bottom step to the top.

Curved stairlifts
A curved stairlift is for stairs that turn, wrap around a corner, or have a landing partway up. The rail is shaped to follow your staircase.

Indoor and outdoor stairlifts
Most stairlifts are used inside the home. Outdoor stairlifts are made for steps outside, such as porch, deck, or entry steps.

New and used stairlifts
We offer new stairlifts and used ones. Many of our used lifts are units we first sold, installed, and maintained over the years. Purchasing used mobility equipment can save you 30% - 60% compared to buying new. Our used stock changes quickly, so see our used mobility equipment or call and ask what we have today.
Brands we install and service
Griffin Mobility is an authorized dealer for Bruno, Harmar, Savaria and Handicare stairlifts, and we install and service the lifts we sell. We can service and repair most mobility equipment, so call us even if your stairlift came from somewhere else.

Stairlift questions
Do I need a straight or a curved stairlift?
If your stairs are one straight flight with no turns or landings, a straight stairlift is usually the fit. If your stairs turn or have a landing, you will likely need a curved stairlift. Your in-home evaluation will answer this for your stairs.
Can a stairlift be used outside?
Yes. Outdoor stairlifts are made for steps outside the home, like porch or deck steps. We can tell you during your evaluation if an outdoor lift is a good fit for your steps.
Is a used stairlift a good option?
It can be. A used lift can lower your cost. Because a curved rail is shaped to one staircase, used lifts are usually easiest to fit on straight stairs. Ask us what is in stock and whether it will work in your home.
Who fixes my stairlift if it stops working?
Our service center does. We offer 24-hour emergency service. If you call after hours, follow the prompts and leave a detailed message. Our phone system pages the technician on call, who will call you back as soon as possible.
Can I get help paying for a stairlift?
We offer financing, and some programs, such as those through the Veterans Administration, may help depending on your situation. Ask us and we will help you look at your options.
